Terms of Service

1. General

The Lumi mobile application and related backend services (together, the “Service”) are operated by the sole developer of Lumi, based in Taiwan, Republic of China (“Lumi,” “us,” “our,” or “we”). Access to and use of the Service is subject to the following Terms of Service (“Terms”). By accessing or using any part of the Service, you represent that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms, including any future modifications.

Lumi may amend, update, or change these Terms. If we do this, we will indicate at the top of these Terms the date they were last revised, and we will notify you in-app or by email when the changes are material. Revisions become effective the first time you access or use the Service after the change. If you do not agree to abide by these Terms, you are not authorized to use, access, or participate in the Service.

2. Description of the Service

The Service is an AI-powered language-learning mobile application that allows users to interact with AI characters by text, by voice, in a phone-call-styled interaction, and through scenario-based roleplay. Lumi may, in its sole discretion and at any time, update, change, suspend, make improvements to, or discontinue any aspect of the Service, temporarily or permanently.

3. Acceptable Use

You are responsible for your use of the Service and for any use of the Service made using your account. Our goal is to create a safe, educational, and welcoming experience. To promote this goal, we prohibit certain kinds of conduct that may be harmful to other users, to Lumi, or to the integrity of the Service. When you use the Service, you must comply with all applicable laws and with these Terms.

In particular, you must not:

• attempt to jailbreak, prompt-inject, role-manipulate, or otherwise circumvent the safety measures built into the Service or its AI characters;
• use the Service to develop or train a competing AI model, including by scraping conversations or fine-tuning on outputs;
• impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation with any person, or use the Service to defraud anyone;
• introduce malware, conduct denial-of-service attacks, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service;
• reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive the source code of the Service, except to the extent applicable law expressly permits;
• resell, sublicense, or otherwise commercially exploit the Service or any virtual items granted to you through the Service; or
• use any automated means (bots, scripts, scrapers) to access the Service.

Lumi may, in its sole judgment, restrict, suspend, or terminate your access to the Service for any violation of these Terms, with or without notice. Lumi may also operate automated and manual moderation systems to enforce these Terms.

4. Registration

In connection with registering for and using the Service, you agree (i) to provide accurate, current, and complete information about you as requested by Lumi; (ii) to maintain the confidentiality of your password and other information related to the security of your account; (iii) to maintain and promptly update any registration information you provide to Lumi, to keep such information accurate, current, and complete; and (iv) to be fully responsible for all use of your account and for any actions that take place through your account.
